Technical Program Manager (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working model with in-person collaboration in the office, vehicle workshops, and labs.

What you will do

• Translate ambiguous technical goals into clear plans, priorities, commitments, and delivery milestones.
• Own complex, multi-team technical programmes from planning through delivery.
• Coordinate engineering and cross-functional dependencies, resolve blockers, and drive timely decisions.
• Identify delivery risks, develop mitigation plans, and protect timelines and quality as priorities change.
• Improve workflows, tooling, resource allocation, and delivery practices across the engineering organisation.
• Lead retrospectives and turn lessons learned into practical improvements in collaboration and execution.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience leading complex, multi-team software or technology programmes in fast-paced or early-stage environments.
• Strong technical understanding of software, machine learning, robotics, and complex systems.
• Experience with planning, prioritisation, risk and dependency management, stakeholder communication, and decision-making under ambiguity.
• Ability to influence without formal authority, communicate complex ideas clearly, and keep cross-functional teams aligned.
• Product-minded approach focused on impact, outcomes, and the needs of programme users.
• Openness to feedback and continuous improvement of delivery practices and team dynamics.

Nice to have

• 8 or more years of experience specifically as a Technical Program Manager.
• Engineering or computer science degree, or prior experience working as an engineer.
• Strong proficiency with Jira or similar programme management tooling.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, perception, vehicle hardware, embedded software, machine learning, simulation, evaluation, or other safety-critical and compute-heavy domains.

Hiring process

• 30-minute initial recruiter call.
• Competency interviews covering the TPM process and cross-functional collaboration, followed by deep-dive technical interviews on programme design.
• 30-minute final interview focused on mission and values alignment.
