2027 Spring Co-op Virology Platform Global Antigen Design

Location: Waltham, MA; onsite, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Must be able to relocate to the office location for the full six-month co-op.

What you will do

• Complete supervised laboratory research tasks and produce consistent, high-quality data.
• Characterize vaccine candidates targeting respiratory pathogens such as influenza, RSV, hMPV, and COVID-19.
• Apply virological, immunological, and molecular techniques, including cell culture, virus propagation, infectious titer assays, virus neutralization assays, RT-PCR, and viral genome sequencing.
• Read scientific literature and develop knowledge of virology and vaccinology with guidance from the team.
• Maintain experiment notebooks according to QA requirements and support laboratory and equipment maintenance.
• Attend group meetings and present experimental data.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in life sciences, such as virology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or biology, with plans to graduate by Spring 2029.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
• Must remain enrolled at an accredited college or university throughout the co-op.
• Must be able to work onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts, 40 hours per week for the full six-month duration.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under supervision.

Nice to have

• R&D or laboratory experience with molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, biosafety cabinets, laboratory documentation, or automated laboratory systems.
• Ability to perform experiments from verbal or written instructions and learn new research procedures.
