Senior Software Engineer, Globalization (AI/i18n)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid with onsite work Tuesday through Thursday each week

Starting base salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead complex internationalization engineering projects from requirements clarification through delivery.
• Set the technical roadmap for scalable i18n infrastructure and support faster country and language launches.
• Build AI- and LLM-powered translation tooling, including model evaluation, quality guardrails, and production integration.
• Build and operate translation pipelines and i18n tooling integrated with TMS platforms and CI/CD systems.
• Standardize locale-aware formatting across frontend and backend systems, including dates, currencies, pluralization, and messages.
• Expand RTL, bidirectional, and transliteration support while mentoring engineers and collaborating across product, design, legal, marketing, and localization.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience, including hands-on i18n/l10n engineering and delivery leadership.
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript experience, including React or React Native, plus a backend language such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python.
• Production experience applying AI and LLMs, including judgment about automation and human review.
• Working knowledge of Unicode, ICU/CLDR, locale-aware formatting, and resource file formats.
• Experience building or scaling localization systems and translation pipelines.
• Clear cross-functional communication and the ability to teach teams about internationalization.

Nice to have

• Production experience with RTL or bidirectional language support.
• Experience with localizability audits, pseudo-locale validation, TMS platforms, or XLIFF.
• Fintech, remittance, or other regulated-industry experience.
