Director, Gas and Power (Strategic Sourcing)

Location: US, Louisville, CO; remote work is possible with approval of location. Limited travel of approximately 30% is required.

Salary: $183,000–$238,000 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term compensation.

What you will do

• Lead gas-generation contracting efforts across the Renewables & Power businesses.
• Develop and negotiate strategic supply agreements with equipment and service suppliers.
• Build sourcing strategies, preferred-vendor programs, pricing structures, and procurement processes for new generation, maintenance, and technology projects.
• Partner with Engineering, Construction, Development, project, and procurement teams to ensure safe and timely equipment delivery.
• Monitor purchase-order claims, contracts, supplier defects, delivery issues, and remediation actions.
• Lead a team and foster strategic partnerships across AES and its supplier network.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Sourcing, Legal, Business, Administration, Engineering, or another technical field.
• At least 10 years of gas and power-related experience.
• At least 5 years of team-management experience.
• Strong negotiation and contract-negotiation skills, with knowledge of power plant, utility equipment, services, and construction procurement.
• Financial knowledge for project cash-flow evaluation, including cost of capital, IRR, and NPV.
• Experience with supplier qualification and development, total-cost-of-ownership models, MS Office, Quickbase, and other software systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in gas and fuel-cell project development or construction.
• Business development or broader gas and power sector experience.
• A well-developed supplier network and experience building strategic partnerships.
