Staff AI & Data Engineer, HR Systems

What you will do

• Design and deliver AI agents, intelligent automations, data products, and reusable engineering capabilities for HR operations, recruiting, onboarding, compensation, benefits, learning, talent, workforce planning, and HR analytics.
• Build agentic AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, tool calling, memory, orchestration, APIs, and Databricks AI capabilities.
• Design governed HR data pipelines, domain models, data products, and integrations across Workday, Databricks, enterprise applications, and AI services.
• Establish evaluation, testing, observability, security, privacy, auditability, and responsible AI practices for sensitive HR data and workflows.
• Partner with HR stakeholders, Enterprise Data & AI, Enterprise Software Engineering, Security, HR centers of excellence, and other technology teams.
• Mentor HR Tech engineers and establish reusable architectures, documentation, standards, reliability practices, and performance and cost optimization approaches.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering, data engineering, AI/ML engineering, solution engineering, or related technical experience delivering production solutions in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying generative AI or agentic AI solutions with LLMs, RAG, tool calling, orchestration, APIs, and modern AI architectures.
• Experience designing secure, resilient enterprise integrations and event-driven architectures using MCPs, APIs, webhooks, orchestration platforms, AWS Lambda, authentication, authorization, idempotency, retries, and error handling.
• Hands-on Databricks experience, including Unity Catalog, medallion architecture, model serving, vector search, or Mosaic AI.
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines, data models, and data products using structured and unstructured enterprise data.
• Meaningful experience with HR technology, HR data, and employee lifecycle processes, including Workday, VNDLY, Greenhouse, or ServiceNow, plus a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Deep Workday experience with integrations, APIs, Extend, Prism, reporting, Business Process Framework, or Workday data architecture.
• Experience with MCP, multi-agent architectures, enterprise knowledge systems, semantic search, or advanced RAG architectures.
• Experience with Workato, Windsurf, Devin, TrueFoundry, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable AI development and deployment platforms.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, CI/CD, DevOps, production observability, HR analytics, workforce planning, or talent intelligence.
