Software Applications Developer IV (Java/C#)

Salary: $90,000–$93,000 annually

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for enterprise-wide software development projects and services.
• Guide data architecture design and evaluate software products and programming languages.
• Author and revise applications, troubleshoot custom application and data-handling issues, and resolve defects.
• Act as the lead technical liaison for clients, vendors, stakeholders, and executive management.
• Establish design, programming, documentation, coding, and testing standards for enterprise applications.
• Mentor, train, and develop junior technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least eight years of software applications development experience.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to obtain and continuously maintain a passport and appropriate travel visas.
• Must work onsite in College Station and be able to sail, pass a routine medical examination, work 12-hour shifts, and remain on call for weekends, holidays, and after-hours needs.
• Ability to work safely in confined shipboard environments involving motion, noise, vibration, physical exertion, and variable conditions.

Nice to have

• Ten years of related experience, including at least three years working on a research vessel.
• Experience with Java, C#, Angular, HTML, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
• Experience with Oracle or other relational databases and multi-tier or web-based architectures.
• Experience developing graphical user interfaces, using version control, debugging and profiling tools, test automation, or integrated development environments.
• Experience with scientific ocean drilling.
