TL;DR
Senior Azure & Microsoft 365 Platform Architect (Azure/Microsoft 365): Owning the Azure platform and Microsoft 365 environment across architecture validation, identity governance, disaster recovery, monitoring, and operational reliability with an accent on secure platform engineering and business-critical production systems. Focus on designing recovery and failover exercises, tuning service-health observability, managing Terraform and Azure DevOps controls, and challenging external providers on technical risks.

What you will do
- Own the Azure platform, including subscriptions, landing zones, networking, compute, databases, and Microsoft 365 tenant configuration.
- Validate deployed infrastructure against architecture and security requirements, covering access controls, ingress, DNS, certificates, and platform dependencies.
- Govern Entra ID, Conditional Access, authentication, RBAC, PIM, service identities, guest and client-facing identities, and least-privilege access.
- Assess and improve disaster recovery through dependency mapping, RTO/RPO validation, backups, replication, restoration, regional failover, and recovery exercises.
- Improve service-health monitoring with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, and Application Insights, while troubleshooting infrastructure, applications, APIs, and integrations.
- Maintain Terraform configurations, Azure DevOps pipelines, Azure Policy guardrails, PowerShell automation, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, including platform engineering, tenant administration, security configuration, Active Directory servers, and Mimecast email security.
- Strong knowledge of Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure RBAC, PIM, Key Vault, and identity and access governance.
- Practical experience with Azure networking, ingress, compute, databases, backups, replication, restoration, and disaster recovery testing.
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, Application Insights, service-health monitoring, alert tuning, and distributed API-driven services.
- Practical Terraform experience with modules, state management, and drift detection, plus Azure DevOps CI/CD, access controls, PowerShell, and Azure Policy.
- Ability to work independently, document verified findings, exercise technical judgement, collaborate with external providers, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Bicep or ARM templates and cloud cost optimisation or FinOps.
- Experience supporting security audits and working with multiple external technology suppliers.
- Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application in Microsoft 365 or IT operations.
