EMD, a Curtiss-Wright business unit, designs, manufactures, tests, and supports critical-function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms, and power conditioning electronics for the United States Navy and the commercial nuclear industry.
What you will do
- Complete the in-house winding trainee program and progress through Labor Grades 10, 12, and 14 based on training hours and module assessment results.
- Lay out, wind, connect, fit, and assemble complex stators, rotors, coils, and related apparatus.
- Perform experimental, prototype, repair, potting, insulation, baking, surface preparation, and associated winding operations.
- Read drawings, job specifications, procedures, manufacturing information, dimensions, tolerances, and work instructions to plan each assignment.
- Construct specialized components including shunts, copper fins, thermocouple boards, thermocouples, fin-forming blocks, and production wiring such as RTDs.
- Perform brazing and final connections, including terminal boxes, studs, bus bars, coils, and specialized winding assemblies; use cranes for heavier parts.
Requirements
- High school diploma plus completion of a four-year electronics/electrical apprenticeship, or a two-year associate degree in electronics.
- Must be a US citizen due to Department of Defense requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- Must qualify for all required brazing operations and pass the applicable winding module assessments.
- Ability to perform hands-on assembly, insulation, potting, brazing, and lifting operations; a crane is available for heavier work.
