Payroll & Benefits Specialist

What you will do

• Process multi-state payroll and support end-to-end payroll activities with accurate, compliant, and timely delivery.
• Support weekly union payroll administration and related requirements.
• Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA and applicable state leave requirements.
• Manage benefits enrollments, life events, and Open Enrollment activities.
• Partner with employees, managers, HR, and vendors to resolve payroll, benefits, and leave questions.
• Maintain procedures, documentation, reconciliations, operational controls, and Total Rewards reporting activities.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of payroll, benefits, or Total Rewards operations experience, including hands-on multi-state payroll responsibility.
• Knowledge of benefits contract language and the ability to evaluate and make judgments on RFPs.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, time-management, and customer-service skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for analyzing and reconciling payroll and employee data.
• Experience with HRIS, payroll, and/or benefits systems.
• Bachelor’s degree required; ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects under deadline pressure.

Nice to have

• Workday Payroll or Benefits experience.
• CEBS, FPC, CPP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• Experience supporting more than 1,000 employees across multiple states.
• Working knowledge of ACA, COBRA, ERISA, SOX-controlled environments, or union payroll.
