Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Location: Miami, Florida; in-office role with the possibility of a hybrid schedule

What you will do

• Process accurate and timely payroll for hourly, salaried, and multistate employees.
• Audit timekeeping, pay changes, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and off-cycle payments.
• Reconcile payroll registers, resolve discrepancies, and partner with Finance on general ledger entries and audits.
• Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, leave, and other employee benefit programs.
• Lead open enrollment, new-hire enrollments, qualifying life events, coverage terminations, and vendor coordination.
• Maintain HRIS and payroll records, improve processes, and protect confidential compensation data.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of combined payroll processing and benefits administration experience.
• Working knowledge of payroll and HRIS platforms such as Paylocity, ADP, Gusto, Rippling, or Workday.
• Understanding of federal and state payroll tax rules, wage-and-hour law, and FLSA requirements.
• Familiarity with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA compliance frameworks.
• Strong accuracy, organization, communication, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the Miami office.

Nice to have

• Hands-on Paylocity experience.
• Experience with ATS implementation or configuration.
• Benefits brokerage, plan renewal, or benefits implementation experience.
• CPP or CEBS certification.
• Experience in a fast-growing or startup environment, transportation, logistics, or another operations-heavy industry.
