Engineering Director - Tax Product Development

Location: Onsite at one of multiple U.S. offices, including New York, Washington, Nashville, Miami, Philadelphia, Orlando, McLean, Chicago, Raleigh, Houston, Richmond, Memphis, Boston, Atlanta, Grand Rapids, Denver, Charlotte, Dallas, Milwaukee, or Seattle.

Salary: $210,000–$325,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

What you will do

• Define and execute engineering and technology strategy for cloud-based tax products across partnership, corporate, indirect, and strategic tax services.
• Lead architecture, product design, development, governance, security, and delivery for a product portfolio.
• Build and manage cross-disciplinary agile engineering teams and determine staffing and resource needs.
• Design scalable, maintainable, and secure product and platform architectures.
• Oversee delivery timelines, budgets, quality standards, service-level agreements, and business outcomes.
• Collaborate with tax leadership, product management, National IT, hirify.global Global, and international member firms.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 12 years of technology experience, or a bachelor's degree with 10 years of technology experience.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication, software engineering, security, and performance optimization skills.
• Experience with software architecture and engineering principles, including microservices or serverless architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP; DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, and NoSQL.
• Expertise in multiple programming languages such as C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Agile or Waterfall methodologies, and enterprise product delivery.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of leadership experience managing development teams, including teams of 20 or more people in a global multisite environment.
• Experience delivering enterprise or SaaS products in the tax or accounting industry.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Dynamics, artificial intelligence, GenAI, OpenAI, or Anthropic platforms.
• Tax experience, professional services experience, or a cloud certification such as AZ-900.
