TL;DR
Catastrophe Advisory Analyst (Catastrophe Modeling/Reinsurance): Assessing the impact of earthquakes, floods, wildfires, and hurricanes on insurers' property damage and financial losses using engineering, economic research, and predictive models with an accent on data management, risk analysis, and client communication. Focus on running catastrophe models, interpreting complex data, supporting reinsurance transactions, and developing clear narratives for brokers and clients.

Location: Hybrid role based in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Edina, Chicago, Minneapolis, or Dallas, with at least three days per week in the office.

Salary: $30.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Organize and validate client data, load it into predictive catastrophe models, run analyses, and share insights with senior colleagues.
  • Assess modeled outcomes related to earthquakes, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, and other hazards.
  • Support reinsurance transactions through calculations, data interpretation, and financial analysis.
  • Develop clear narratives and presentations that help brokers and clients understand catastrophe risk.
  • Manage catastrophe modeling projects from inception to completion and contribute to internal initiatives.
  • Build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders while developing regional or peril-based catastrophe risk expertise.

Requirements

  • Progress toward a bachelor's degree in quantitative or natural sciences, finance, economics, data science, computer science, meteorology, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028 is preferred.
  • Strong data management, analytical, problem-solving, financial, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, learn analytical software quickly, and present complex concepts clearly.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently and continuously in the United States without current or future sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance, catastrophe modeling software, or related organizations.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Alteryx, or coding in any language.
  • Background in meteorology or seismology.
  • Understanding of insurance, reinsurance, and related product lines.
