Director, Financial Reporting - Special Projects (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA; hybrid, with staff expected to work from an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Own consolidated statement of cash flows, including supporting schedules, classification analysis, non-cash disclosures, and external audit review.
• Lead subsidiary, statutory, lender, covenant, regulatory, and other compliance-related reporting.
• Lead accounting standard adoption, stock-based compensation reporting, disclosure drafting, controls, and related audit processes.
• Contribute to periodic SEC filings, peer disclosure benchmarking, purchase accounting, and post-close reporting for acquired entities.
• Design, test, document, and maintain Claude-powered workflows for roll-forwards, tie-outs, disclosure drafting, benchmarking, and reporting automation.
• Maintain process documentation and controls while serving as a primary auditor contact.

Requirements

• Hands-on ownership of statement of cash flows preparation, including ASC 230 classification and audit support.
• Experience with subsidiary, statutory, regulatory, lender, covenant, or other compliance-related reporting.
• Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to build financial reporting workflows or automation.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, Regulation S-X, and Regulation S-K.
• Clear communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to own ambiguous work and meet filing deadlines with minimal oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience; relevant field of study required.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of experience in financial reporting, SEC reporting, or public accounting, including public-company or pre-IPO experience.
• Experience building peer disclosure benchmarking programs using EDGAR full-text search or XBRL data.
• Experience building reusable Claude or similar AI skills, agents, or processes.
• International statutory reporting, special-purpose entity consolidation, and CPA or equivalent certification.
