Principal R&D Project Manager (Robotics)

Location: Based out of Boston, Massachusetts, United States and Gieres, France

Base pay: $117,000–$201,250 per year

What you will do

• Plan and execute Navigation platform projects, including project charters, scope baselines, WBS structures, and integrated master schedules.
• Manage schedules, critical paths, milestones, budgets, forecasts, earned value tracking, and project performance reporting.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery across software, systems, hardware, V&V, clinical, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, vendors, and contractors.
• Maintain RAID logs, drive mitigation actions, manage change requests, resolve resource conflicts, and escalate decisions through platform leadership.
• Lead project core team meetings, dashboards, stakeholder communications, phase-gate readiness, design controls, and Design & Development Planning activities.
• Support hybrid Agile and hardware execution, then lead project closure, lessons learned, final reporting, and transition to sustaining operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of project management experience in regulated Class II product development environments.
• Experience with medical devices, robotics, navigation, software-enabled products, phase-gate execution, design controls, and QMS documentation.
• Experience coordinating complex software, systems, and hardware programs across requirements, architecture, V&V, clinical, quality, and regulatory deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, Lean, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models, plus integrated scheduling, critical-path management, RAID management, and resource planning.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Planisware/Cadence PPM, Jira, or Azure DevOps, with strong stakeholder communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices, robotics, navigation, or software-enabled products.
• Experience with computer programming, data science, prototyping, robotic automation, SAP Product Lifecycle Management, or manufacturing technologies.
