Transportation Supervisor Perishables

Location: R2 Perishable DC Elkton, MD #0762, United States; on-site distribution center role with flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Salary: $58,000–$74,000 per year

What you will do

• Supervise, train, mentor, onboard, and retain transportation team members and drivers.
• Coordinate daily transportation, dispatch, shipping, backhaul, routing, scheduling, and load assignments.
• Manage DOT and FMCSA training, safety policies, compliance meetings, driver files, performance reviews, and coaching.
• Monitor safety metrics, CSA results, KPIs, TMW systems, hours-of-service records, vendor audits, invoicing, equipment leases, and maintenance.
• Investigate accidents and Drive Cam events, respond to breakdowns and late trucks, and resolve customer, vendor, and product issues.
• Analyze transportation data and lead process improvements focused on efficiency, profitability, compliance, and on-time performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework, technical education, or a business background preferred.
• At least two years of transportation experience in an operations environment.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, general transportation regulations, and DOT hours-of-service requirements.
• Ability to use email, word processing, spreadsheets, and transportation management systems; strong math, accuracy, and analytical skills required.
• English proficiency required: ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, travel up to 15%, lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs rarely, and work in warehouse, vehicle, cold, noisy, and PPE-required environments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
• CDL Class A license.
• Dispatch or supervisory experience and knowledge of TMS platforms such as TMW or RydeSmart.
• LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, or transportation certifications.
