Level 3 DDC Controls Technician (Building Automation)

Location: Remote in the United States, with work around Tampa, Florida, Manatee, and South and Central Florida, including travel to project sites as required

What you will do

• Lead complex commercial DDC control projects from installation, programming, and startup through commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout.
• Program and configure DDC controllers, supervisory devices, graphics, and peripheral equipment using Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or equivalent platforms.
• Develop control logic and sequences supporting energy efficiency, occupant comfort, reliability, and correct equipment operation.
• Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, commissioning, performance verification, field inspections, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, networks, communication protocols, HVAC equipment, and system interfaces.
• Coordinate with contractors, electricians, TAB contractors, manufacturers, IT personnel, engineers, project managers, commissioning agents, and customers while providing technical guidance to junior technicians.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with DDC controls, building automation systems, HVAC controls, or a related field.
• Advanced programming experience with Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or equivalent DDC/BAS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Ethernet, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, low-voltage controls wiring, 24VAC systems, relays, transformers, sensors, actuators, electrical troubleshooting, and applicable safety practices.
• Ability to interpret controls drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical plans, sequences of operation, specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Valid driver's license, ability to travel to project sites, high school diploma or equivalent, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Technical degree, trade certification, or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, controls, or a related field.
• Experience with system upgrades, retrofits, expansions, integrations, and service-related projects.
