Underground Utility Superintendent

General contractor delivering heavy civil and industrial construction services, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, water and wastewater facilities, and marine construction.

What you will do

• Supervise Foremen and skilled trades crews performing underground utility and heavy highway construction.
• Coordinate pre-planning, installation, safety, production, quality, and profitability for project work.
• Create project, 90-day, and three-week schedules with the project management team.
• Coordinate manpower, heavy equipment, tooling, materials, and subcontractors.
• Monitor work-item costs and support project planning and performance.
• Train and develop team members while addressing performance, complaints, and operational issues.

Requirements

• Technical experience in complex underground utilities, progressing from Journeyman to Foreman to Superintendent.
• At least 5 years of similar construction field management experience.
• Experience with line and grade equipment, shoring systems, dewatering, and sewer bypass operations.
• Understanding of specifications, blueprint reading, hydrostatic testing, and sewer testing.
• Ability to interpret safety laws, company standards, and industry practices and manage varied self-performing trade disciplines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for scheduling and Microsoft Word for pre-planning, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
