Senior/Principal Software Engineer (Geothermal)

Location: Seattle, WA; onsite. Travel to deployment sites is required as needed.

Salary: $200K–$250K base salary plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and build the software ecosystem for component qualification and full integrated power plant validation.
• Architect hardware-in-the-loop and simulation environments for realistic operating conditions and failure scenarios.
• Develop automated test execution, operator interfaces, data acquisition, visualization, storage, and analysis systems.
• Integrate test-system electrical and controls infrastructure, including PCBs, DAQs, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
• Partner with firmware, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers to create scalable testing capabilities.
• Build software infrastructure for automated production lines and future lights-out manufacturing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong skills in Python, Rust, C++, C, or similar languages, with experience shipping production software end to end.
• Experience building software for complex hardware systems, automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop, industrial controls, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or similar products.
• Technical fluency to collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, controls, and systems engineers.
• Ability to work onsite in Seattle and travel to deployment sites as required.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with sensors, electrical systems, instrumentation, and test hardware.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Rust and Nix.
• Experience with HITL or SITL, embedded simulation, or emulation software.
• Experience with PLCs, DAQs, VFDs, National Instruments, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, or similar industrial communication protocols.
• Background in aerospace, robotics, automotive, energy, defense, or other hardware industries.
