Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office

Salary: Senior $155K–$210K annually; Staff $200K–$250K annually

hirify.global is a fast-growing aerospace startup that manufactures satellite buses at scale through software, vertical integration, and manufacturing-oriented hardware.

What you will do

• Develop low-level software for processor peripherals and communication interfaces on spacecraft avionics.
• Write and debug device drivers for sensors, actuators, and other satellite-bus components.
• Implement onboard algorithms, including closed-loop control and fault detection and response.
• Build iterative test code and rigorous, reviewed software for manufacturing and flight.
• Provide embedded software input into new system and hardware designs.
• Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status or the ability to obtain required export authorizations is required to access ITAR- and export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers using bare-metal environments or an RTOS.
• Experience with low-level device drivers and interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and CAN.
• Experience with hardware/software integration, schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and microcontroller architecture including memory, buses, and DMA.

Nice to have

• FPGA development experience.
• Experience bringing up avionics or flight hardware from first power-on.
• Experience with satellite attitude control systems, reaction wheels, magnetorquers, or small thrusters.
• Experience with motors, power electronics, encoders, or current monitors.
• Familiarity with CCSDS and ECSS satellite systems and protocols.
