Senior Embedded Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time onsite in Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California, United States. U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 annual base compensation, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement guidance and navigation software within commercial off-the-shelf software frameworks.
• Lead guidance software design for a clean-sheet airframe platform.
• Support airframe design activities and system integration on flight hardware.
• Develop real-time embedded software and hardware interfaces for flight systems.
• Integrate vendor-provided low-level drivers and firmware.
• Collaborate with small engineering teams across product families.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
• Experience designing and implementing guidance algorithms for UAS platforms using autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
• Practical understanding of fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight dynamics.
• Extensive experience with microcontroller architectures such as STM32 and Linux on Nvidia Jetson, AMD/Xilinx SoC, or MicroBlaze platforms.
• U.S. Person status required; experience with Agile, Scrum, continuous integration, and test-driven development.

Nice to have

• DoD security clearance or Part 107 remote pilot certification.
• EO/IR or radar sensor integration experience.
• VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA development experience.
• Git, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and production-level software deployment experience.
• Experience with high-TRL software development, hardware/software integration and testing, and verification and validation.
