Senior Guidance Software Engineer

Location: Full-time onsite in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California, United States. U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Base salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement guidance and navigation software within commercial off-the-shelf software frameworks.
• Lead guidance software design for a clean-sheet airframe.
• Support airframe design activities and system integration on flight hardware.
• Develop guidance algorithms for UAS platforms using autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
• Integrate vendor-provided low-level drivers and firmware with real-time embedded software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
• Practical understanding of fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight dynamics.
• Extensive experience with microcontroller architectures such as STM32 and Linux hosted on Nvidia Jetson, AMD/Xilinx SoC, or Microblaze architectures.
• Experience developing real-time embedded software, hardware interfaces, and integrating low-level drivers and firmware.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development; ability to work independently and collaborate in small teams.

Nice to have

• Current or previous DoD security clearance.
• Part 107 remote pilot certification and EO/IR or radar sensor integration experience.
• VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA firmware development experience.
• Git, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and production-level software deployment experience.
• Full lifecycle development, integration, testing, and verification of high-TRL systems.
