GNC Software Engineer (Guidance)

Location: Full-time on-site in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California; U.S. Person status required

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 annual base compensation, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement guidance and navigation software within commercial software frameworks.
• Lead guidance software design for a clean-sheet airframe.
• Support airframe design activities and flight-hardware integration.
• Develop and integrate real-time embedded software, hardware interfaces, vendor drivers, and firmware.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across CHAOS product families.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
• Experience designing and implementing guidance algorithms for UAS platforms with autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
• Practical understanding of fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight dynamics.
• Extensive experience with STM32 or similar microcontrollers, Linux on Nvidia Jetson or AMD/Xilinx platforms, and real-time embedded software.
• U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Nice to have

• Current or previous DoD security clearance and Part 107 remote pilot certification.
• EO/IR or radar sensor integration experience.
• VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA firmware development experience.
• Git, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and production-level software deployment experience.
• Experience with high-TRL systems, HW/SW integration and testing, and verification and validation.
