TL;DR
Flight Controls & Guidance Software Engineer (Aerospace): Developing guidance and navigation software for a clean-sheet airframe with an accent on UAS guidance algorithms, flight dynamics, and real-time embedded systems. Focus on integrating software with flight hardware, implementing hardware interfaces, and supporting airframe design and system integration.

Location: Full-time on-site in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California, United States. U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Base salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Implement guidance and navigation software within commercial off-the-shelf software frameworks.
  • Lead guidance software design for a clean-sheet airframe.
  • Support airframe design activities and system integration.
  • Integrate software with flight hardware, vendor drivers, and firmware.
  • Develop real-time embedded software and hardware interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing guidance algorithms for UAS platforms using autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
  • Practical understanding of fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight dynamics.
  • Extensive experience with STM32 or similar microcontrollers and Linux on Nvidia Jetson, AMD/Xilinx SoC, or Microblaze architectures.
  • U.S. Person status required; experience with real-time embedded software, Agile/Scrum, continuous integration, and test-driven development.

Nice to have

  • Current or previous DoD security clearance and Part 107 remote pilot certification.
  • EO/IR or radar sensor integration experience.
  • VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA development experience.
  • Git, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and production-level software deployment experience.
  • Experience with high-TRL system development, integration, testing, and verification.
