TL;DR
Robotics Software Engineer I/II (Humanoid Robotics): Developing, testing, validating, and integrating production-ready robot skills into warehouse, manufacturing, and distribution workflows with an accent on behavior design, hardware validation, and deployment reliability. Focus on scripting behavior trees and state machines, reproducing failure cases, validating skills in simulation and on hardware, and supporting customer-site deployments.

Location: Onsite in Salem, Oregon, at least 4 days per week. All roles are U.S.-based, and applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Anticipated base salary: $114,000–$148,000 USD per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain production-ready skills that support customer workflows for humanoid robots.
  • Script robot behaviors using behavior trees, state machines, task planners, and the robot skill API.
  • Apply classical and modern robotics approaches to implement behaviors for target tasks and domains.
  • Prototype customer use cases and assess the feasibility of new robot skills.
  • Define production-readiness criteria, test plans, and validation infrastructure.
  • Reproduce failure cases, validate skills in simulation and on hardware, and occasionally travel to customer sites for deployment and tuning.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant research or industry experience, preferably with mobile manipulation robots.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with Linux systems.
  • Hands-on interest in developing physical robot behaviors and iterating directly on hardware.
  • Understanding of autonomous robotics from low-level control through high-level task planning.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with state machines, behavior trees, or other robot behavior control logic.
  • Understanding of manipulation, motion planning, kinematics, or the MoveIt framework.
  • Exposure to test-driven development, automated regression testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience operating autonomous robots in customer environments or real-world deployments.
