Manager, People Operations (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work three days per week. Exceptional candidates may work remotely from the West Coast timezone if they can travel to the Bay Area at least quarterly. Salary: $193,000–$214,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with the VP of People Operations to design scalable HR strategies, programs, and infrastructure for rapid headcount growth.
• Oversee the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, employee support, and offboarding.
• Lead Open Enrollment, benefits strategy, vendor management, payroll workflows, HRIS, and time-tracking systems.
• Design and analyze pulse surveys to measure engagement and improve workplace culture.
• Manage sensitive employee relations matters, internal investigations, conflict resolution, and confidential employee inquiries.
• Lead and develop the People Operations team while advising executives and maintaining compliance.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of progressive People Operations or Human Resources experience, including 4+ years of direct people management.
• Experience building and scaling People Operations functions during rapid growth.
• Expertise in total rewards, benefits design, vendor negotiations, and end-to-end Open Enrollment.
• Strong experience handling complex employee relations, investigations, and sensitive organizational issues with discretion and emotional intelligence.
• Hands-on experience with modern HR systems such as Rippling and Lattice, plus documentation tools including Google Workspace and Confluence.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of multi-state federal, state, and local employment laws and HR governance.
• Familiarity with ITAR/EAR compliance, security clearances, talent acquisition restrictions, onboarding, and export-control workflows.
