Senior Chemist - Innovation Ventures

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; in-office Monday–Thursday and work from home on Fridays.

Salary: $97,000–$104,000 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Partner with Design and Product Development to identify chemical and material solutions for new product concepts.
• Develop, formulate, evaluate, and optimize inks, cosmetics, play compounds, and other formulated products.
• Lead chemical-feature development from concept through production, defining requirements, testing, milestones, and technical risks.
• Troubleshoot complex formulation, processing, performance, and production issues through root-cause analysis.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on material qualification, formulation transfer, and scale-up.
• Define documentation, testing, safety, regulatory, and production requirements while providing technical guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related physical science.
• Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in chemistry, formulation, materials development, or consumer product development.
• Strong knowledge of chemistry principles, formulation practices, raw materials, and material interactions.
• Ability to independently develop and troubleshoot complex formulations, evaluate technical alternatives, and perform root-cause analysis and experimental design.
• Ability to translate creative or product requirements into technical specifications, manage multiple projects, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate across Design, Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Procurement, suppliers, and global development teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with formulated consumer products and manufacturing scale-up.
• Working knowledge of chemical safety, regulatory requirements, restricted-substance management, and technical documentation.
