Senior Engineer (Highways) - Howden

Location: Howden, United Kingdom. Onsite work involving site surveys and inspections; a valid UK driving licence is essential.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering and analysis of highway schemes, including road layouts, drainage, earthworks, and associated infrastructure.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and delivery from inception to completion.
• Oversee quality assurance, contract and specification compliance, and subcontractor management.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and presentations.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections, and coordinate with clients, local authorities, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 8–10 years of demonstrable experience in highway design and infrastructure projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MXROAD, PDS, or similar industry-standard design software.
• Strong knowledge of DMRB and relevant UK highway design standards.
• Project management experience covering budget control and programme management.
• Valid UK driving licence required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with client management and stakeholder engagement.
