Trainee Project Engineer (Power Transmission)

Location: Glasgow, UK, with work across project offices and site locations along the KTR route.

What you will do

• Support engineering and project teams in planning and delivering KTR project activities.
• Review design information, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and engineering data.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and maintain project documentation systems.
• Participate in site visits, surveys, inspections, progress meetings, and construction support activities.
• Prepare risk assessments, method statements, technical submissions, reports, presentations, and project updates.
• Support subcontractor, supplier, and specialist consultant coordination while monitoring progress, risks, and opportunities.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or General Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to support compliance with Scottish Power Energy Networks requirements, CDM Regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental obligations.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of engineering analysis software and numerical modelling.
• Understanding of construction or infrastructure projects.
• Previous site or placement experience.
• Familiarity with health and safety requirements in engineering projects.
