Data Engineer (Big Data)

Location: Newbury, United Kingdom; hybrid, with office attendance 2–3 days per week and at least 8 days per month

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data ingestion pipelines.
• Develop and optimize large-scale data processing solutions for significant data volumes.
• Assess, monitor, and improve data quality, reliability, security, and accessibility.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DataOps Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the Unified Data Platform, analytics capabilities, customer insights, and marketing initiatives.
• Support Agentic AI frameworks and improve the performance, resilience, and transparency of the Big Data ecosystem.

Requirements

• Experience assessing and improving data quality with SQL and/or Python.
• Experience developing scalable pipelines with Spark, PySpark, Hive, and BigQuery.
• Experience working with large and complex codebases and Git-based development workflows.
• Experience with command-line tools, development environments, and notebook technologies such as Jupyter or Zeppelin.
• Experience with cloud-based Big Data platforms and services, including AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Understanding of software and data lifecycle management, plus experience working in Agile delivery frameworks.
