Senior Data Platform Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent at office locations or local sites

What you will do

• Design, build, and manage real-time, near-real-time, and batch data architectures for threat detection, incident response, and security reporting.
• Develop automated frameworks for integrating security data into the data lake and transforming data across raw, trusted, and curated layers.
• Write high-quality code, conduct peer reviews, and provide constructive feedback to improve the team codebase.
• Implement automation and DevOps practices for deploying, configuring, and managing data platform components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional data teams and communicate technical solutions to stakeholders with different levels of expertise.
• Contribute to platform architecture and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Strong programming experience with Python and proficiency in SQL.
• Experience building cloud data platforms with Databricks on Azure or BigQuery on GCP.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Flink.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, ETL, ELT, Airflow, and dbt.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
• Ability to guide and empower junior team members to achieve desired outcomes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with machine learning and AI tools.
