Senior Engineering Manager - Client Infrastructure (Slack)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Base salary: $172,500–$260,100 annually. In select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas: $207,800–$285,800 annually.

What you will do

• Lead two backend and frontend client infrastructure engineering teams.
• Set the long-term technical vision, roadmap, and execution strategy.
• Define, monitor, and report quarterly delivery measures.
• Represent the teams in product, planning, leadership, and cross-functional meetings.
• Drive improvements in frontend infrastructure productivity, performance, and code health.
• Mentor engineers, support career development, and partner on security, product, and AI-assisted development initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience coaching and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience designing, scaling, and operating backend services and distributed systems for high-traffic client applications.
• Deep knowledge of API design principles for long-lived client contracts.
• Deep knowledge of browsers and frontend technologies.
• Ability to explain trade-offs involving service workers, boot frameworks, and web sockets.
• Ability to make rapid technical decisions amid uncertainty, conflicting priorities, and high-stakes work.
