Senior Research Associate, Protein Design (AI)

Location: 100% onsite at the Cambridge, Massachusetts site. Due to U.S. export control requirements, only U.S. persons—citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees—are eligible.

Salary: $74,000–$118,400 per year, with potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Execute and optimize recombinant protein expression in mammalian and bacterial E. coli systems.
• Perform transient mammalian cell culture, transfection, and chromatography-based purification using affinity, ion exchange, size-exclusion chromatography, and FPLC systems.
• Develop expression, purification, and formulation conditions for challenging proteins and complex antigens.
• Characterize protein purity, stability, oligomeric state, aggregation, and biomolecular interactions using biochemical and biophysical methods.
• Analyze experimental data, communicate findings through technical reports and presentations, and collaborate with cross-functional research teams.
• Develop AI-assisted workflows for high-throughput protein screening and characterization while troubleshooting and improving production workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical science, protein engineering, chemical biology, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on recombinant protein expression experience in both mammalian and bacterial E. coli systems.
• Experience with protein purification workflows and FPLC operation.
• Experience with biochemical and biophysical characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, western blotting, SEC-MALS, DSC, DSF, BLI, mass photometry, or related methods.
• Strong quantitative data analysis, troubleshooting, scientific problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
• U.S. person status is required for access to export-controlled information; non-U.S. persons cannot be sponsored for an export control license.
