Salary: $113,500–$170,300 annually for the Senior Engineer level; family ranges vary by level from $69,900 to $170,300.

What you will do

  • Analyze and resolve substation operations issues and support the reliability, maintenance, testing, and improvement of substation equipment.
  • Develop technical calculations, reports, records, test procedures, equipment solutions, and engineering recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot substation mechanical and electrical systems and interpret drawings, standards, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test results.
  • Plan and monitor work, coordinate with customers, contractors, utility partners, and internal teams, and guide technical personnel.
  • Lead complex projects and improve engineering standards, safety practices, and technical procedures.
  • Support emergency response efforts during storm season and other operational events, including work outside normal hours when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues, interpret drawings and standards, develop recommendations, communicate effectively, organize work, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license required upon hire.
  • Experience requirements vary by level: 0–12 months for Associate Engineer, at least 1 year for Engineer 1, 2–4 years of electric utility experience for Engineer 2, 4–9 years for Engineer 3, and 7+ years for Senior Engineer.
  • Employees must follow safety requirements, report hazards, and help maintain a safe workplace.

Nice to have

  • Electric utility, substation operations, or power equipment experience.
  • Engineer in Training, Professional Engineer, or PMP certification, depending on level.
  • Master’s degree in business or engineering.
  • Project management experience.
