Substation Project Engineer

Location: Fresno, California, with hybrid work from a remote office and an assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory

Annual salary: $115,128–$175,080

What you will do

• Lead engineering and design for complex electric and substation projects.
• Perform engineering analyses, technical studies, root cause analyses, and conceptual designs.
• Develop design criteria, specifications, reports, drawings, and restoration plans.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, government bodies, and internal customers.
• Evaluate project alternatives, prepare and review consultant contracts and proposals, and verify technical compliance.
• Conduct walkdowns and design reviews, guide less experienced team members, and respond to facility failures during emergencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited US curriculum or equivalent international education.
• At least 3 years of cumulative experience in power system engineering and design.
• Ability to apply engineering principles, codes, industry standards, and regulations independently.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects, work with limited supervision, and provide technically justified recommendations.
• Hybrid work is tied to an assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory.

Nice to have

• Experience in substation engineering and design.
• Experience in project management.
• California Professional Engineer license.
