Senior FPGA Engineer (Space Systems)

Base salary: $175,000–$240,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Architect, design, verify, and test RTL for FPGAs used in spacecraft and ground stations.
• Design high-performance systems for software-defined radios, avionics, and ground systems.
• Interface FPGAs with high-speed data converters, memories, and microcontrollers.
• Design, implement, and test FPGA radiation mitigation schemes.
• Collaborate with DSP, radio algorithm, embedded firmware, and software engineers.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience and hands-on hardware development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and testing high-throughput FPGA systems.
• Strong proficiency with Verilog and SystemVerilog for synthesis and verification, including module-level and system-level test benches.
• Experience with system-level power, thermal, and real-estate estimates.
• Experience with C/C++ bit-accurate modeling of RTL modules. U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residency, or protected refugee/asylee status is required.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in computer engineering or an equivalent field.
• Experience with DSP/radio design, software, encryption, or FEC encoding and decoding.
• Experience with Xilinx Ultrascale, Ultrascale+, or Versal FPGAs, Vivado IDE, and TCL.
• Experience with high-speed data converters, UVM, DPI simulation, circuit-level debugging, and digital communication systems.
• Experience with space-based systems and radiation-tolerant design such as TMR and ECC.
