Senior Information Security Architect (AI Security)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; hybrid work schedule

Annual base salary: $164,300–$222,300, plus potential discretionary bonus and stock awards for eligible roles.

What you will do

• Define enterprise security architecture strategies, principles, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and multi-year roadmaps.
• Lead security architecture engagements for complex, high-risk, cross-functional programs and translate business objectives and risk appetite into technical controls.
• Establish security requirements for AI/ML systems, including secure MLOps, model and data lifecycle protection, identity, isolation, monitoring, privacy, and responsible-use guardrails.
• Review generative and agentic AI designs involving RAG, vector databases, third-party models, APIs, plugins, tools, and autonomous actions.
• Perform threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security design assessments for critical systems and emerging technologies.
• Evaluate security technologies and vendors, guide proofs of concept, and communicate risk, tradeoffs, and investment recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of broad information security experience, including security architecture and design for complex enterprise environments.
• Expertise in secure networking, cloud, on-premises and cloud identity, endpoint security, application security, data protection, and detection and response.
• Experience leading threat modeling and architecture reviews for high-value or high-availability systems.
• Working knowledge of AI/ML security, secure MLOps, generative AI, RAG, AI agents, prompt injection, model supply-chain risk, sensitive-data exposure, access controls, and monitoring.
• Strong cross-functional leadership, facilitation, written communication, and mentoring skills, including influencing decisions without direct authority.

Nice to have

• Advanced vulnerability assessment, security risk analysis, and risk-based prioritization experience.
• Expertise in application security, secure software development, OWASP Top 10, and OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Model Applications.
• Experience with public cloud, hybrid environments, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, NIST AI RMF, MITRE ATT&CK, or MITRE ATLAS.
• CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, or equivalent certification.
