Production Support Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day operational support for complex AWS and Azure production cloud systems.
• Detect, diagnose, document, and resolve outages and operational issues, including restoring services and developing workarounds.
• Administer computing infrastructure, user access, permissions, monitoring, system assets, and production configurations.
• Automate system administration and configuration management using scripting and tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• Monitor and optimize system performance, databases, reliability, security, and backup/recovery processes.
• Collaborate with customers, users, senior management, development, operations, and security teams; provide documentation and training.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance and be eligible for the required government investigation.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, including production environments; 3+ years of experience with SQL query and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS or Azure services including S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and CloudWatch; knowledge of cloud-native technologies and CloudFormation.
• Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix and Windows, system administration, monitoring, networking, VPNs, firewalls, databases, CI/CD, Git, and automation scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, document systems, work cross-functionally, prioritize tasks, and participate in on-call production support.

Nice to have

• Experience with Electronic Data Interchange X.12 medical claims, including 837, 834, and 277 transactions.
• Advanced certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
