Senior Editor, Editorial Review

Location: On-site in Washington, DC, United States; occasional remote work may be available with manager approval. Sunday–Thursday schedule, generally 10 a.m.–7 p.m., with flexibility required for breaking news.

Salary: $130,000–$147,000 USD annually, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Perform final editorial reviews of journalistic content before broadcast or publication, assessing accuracy, fairness, consistency, and platform suitability.
• Copy edit digital news, breaking news, long-form features, multiplatform pieces, and digital video for grammar, factual accuracy, AP style, and hirify.global style.
• Determine the level of additional editing required based on story complexity, subject matter, and prior legal or standards review.
• Collaborate with main editors, show and platform leads, newsroom planning managers, and breaking-news leaders.
• Help develop editorial guidance and best practices with standards and practices leadership.
• Review content-performance data and act on findings to improve the division’s work and audience service.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of distinctive, original national-level news reporting or editing experience.
• Experience editing across multiple platforms and understanding the different needs of platform audiences.
• Demonstrated excellence editing breaking news, explanatory journalism, and feature stories.
• Strong communication, collaboration, editorial decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects under stringent deadlines and changing priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; deep understanding of hirify.global’s public-service mission and core values.
