TL;DR
USAF - Technical Writer (Cybersecurity): Developing and maintaining technical documentation, training materials, SOPs, architecture records, and cybersecurity evidence for United States Air Force systems with an accent on enterprise IT workflows, configuration management, and compliance documentation. Focus on translating complex technical information into traceable deliverables, validating procedures with subject matter experts, and supporting ATO, recovery, and service desk documentation.

Location: On-site in Linthicum Heights, Maryland, United States

What you will do

  • Gather documentation requirements, interview subject matter experts, and organize technical source material for users and reviewers.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals, training materials, quick-reference guides, troubleshooting guides, SOPs, reports, and program documentation.
  • Document system configurations, technical designs, interfaces, integration workflows, as-built architectures, and CADO-IS architecture under DoDAF or its successor framework.
  • Support configuration management, information management, knowledge management, records management, and controlled document repositories.
  • Prepare cybersecurity evidence and procedures for Authority to Operate, continuous ATO, and compliance activities, along with system recovery and Continuity of Operations documentation.
  • Coordinate reviews, manage comments and approvals, apply authorized revisions, and ensure final deliverables meet Government requirements.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience writing and editing technical documentation for enterprise IT systems or services.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear procedures, guides, and training content.
  • Experience validating workflows with subject matter experts and managing document versions, repositories, review comments, and publication workflows.
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, service support terminology, and technical documentation tools.
