Senior Technical Writer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote - US; 100% remote from home with semi-frequent local and national travel to professional offices and events, including some overnight travel.

Base salary: $140,000–$155,000 USD per year, excluding benefits and potential bonuses.

What you will do

• Own the documentation platform, including information architecture, authoring workflows, reviews, publishing, search, and maintenance.
• Create integration guides for supported data and alert sources using repeatable templates.
• Document enterprise and MSSP administration, tenant management, access control, API keys, audit trails, and response-action authorization.
• Maintain API references and developer documentation in collaboration with engineering, using source-generated content where possible.
• Publish release notes and customer documentation for every release, including changes, benefits, and known limitations.
• Explain AI-completed investigations, evidence, uncertainty, system behavior, and limitations while closing documentation gaps identified through support and customer success.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical writing experience for software products with technical buyers, including at least 2 years documenting APIs, integrations, or infrastructure-adjacent products.
• Fluency with docs-as-code workflows using Git, Markdown, and a static documentation framework such as Docusaurus, MkDocs, Mintlify, or equivalent.
• Ability to read code and API specifications, identify discrepancies between implementation and specification, and document complex systems precisely.
• Experience owning documentation end to end, including information architecture, authoring, maintenance, and editorial standards.
• Strong interviewing, editorial judgment, analytical, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Early-stage startup experience and comfort working with ambiguity and a small, accountable team.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity or security operations experience, including familiarity with SIEM, EDR, identity, or cloud security data sources.
• Experience documenting AI or ML products, including model behavior, evidence, and limitations.
• Experience as the first or only documentation hire at a Series A–C company.
• Experience using documentation analytics and support ticket data to prioritize content.
• Familiarity with structured authoring or content reuse systems.
