Senior Software Engineer (Java/AI) Client Platform

Location: City of London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with three days in the office

What you will do

• Build and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into coding, test generation, deployments, defect triage, and engineering workflows.
• Develop observability for AI-assisted pipelines and track cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, and delivery turnaround.
• Automate manual coding, testing, and release steps so they can run largely unattended.
• Integrate LLM-based developer tools with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and CI/CD environments.
• Define responsible AI standards covering data handling, prompt hygiene, and production and customer-data guardrails.
• Mentor engineers, collaborate with product, testing, security, and compliance functions, and support systems in production.

Requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience with strong technical judgment on production systems.
• Hands-on expertise in Java or a comparable backend service ecosystem.
• Strong experience with test-driven development and pair programming.
• Experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting features or systems in production.
• Experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in a real engineering environment.
• Strong interest in aggressive automation and eliminating manual engineering steps.

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP, agentic tooling, or Spec Driven Development.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem and its APIs.
• Experience in financial services, trading platforms, or other regulated, high-reliability environments.
