Location: Dayton, OH, United States. The role involves office, field, and customer-site work with frequent travel, sometimes on short notice.

What you will do

  • Lead the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose complex avionics issues using technical schematics, manuals, and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Route, install, repair, solder, and crimp wiring according to technical drawings.
  • Document maintenance activities and ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, company, and safety standards.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians while maintaining an organized and efficient work area.
  • Travel frequently to customer locations and work in office, field, noisy, hazardous, confined, and elevated environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of relevant experience; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of avionics systems, troubleshooting, installation tooling, wiring, soldering, and crimping techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, stand and walk for extended periods, work at heights and in confined spaces, and operate a vehicle for customer travel.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because the position requires obtaining and maintaining an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, identify safety hazards, and work safely around hazardous materials and industrial equipment.

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Expert soldering skills and experience with advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with FCC requirements and the FCC General Radio Operator License.
  • Knowledge of spectrometers, oscilloscopes, and pitot-static equipment.
  • Background in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
