Specialist Safety Engineer – Technical (Process Safety): Providing technical and process safety engineering expertise for a major offshore oil and gas project in Abu Dhabi with an accent on hazard identification, risk assessment, safety-critical elements, and regulatory compliance. Focus on leading HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bow-Tie, SIMOPS, and other safety studies across FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; based at the client's office or contractor's office

What you will do
- Provide technical safety and process safety support across FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up, and operations.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards throughout the offshore project lifecycle.
- Review process-safety design requirements, safety-critical elements, loss-prevention philosophies, calculations, specifications, drawings, and other technical deliverables.
- Lead, facilitate, and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bow-Tie, SIMOPS, ENVID, PHA, and risk-assessment workshops.
- Support hazardous-area classification, fire-and-gas safety, offshore escape and evacuation planning, emergency response, and brownfield modification activities.
- Coordinate safety requirements with multidisciplinary engineering, contractor, and project teams and follow up on study recommendations and risk-reduction measures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- At least 17 years of overall experience in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 5 years of offshore project experience is mandatory.
- Strong experience in technical safety or process safety engineering on oil and gas EPC or PMC projects.
- Experience across concept, FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC project stages, with strong multidisciplinary coordination and technical-review skills.
- Knowledge of ADNOC requirements and international standards including API, NFPA, and IEC.
Nice to have
- Previous ADNOC Offshore project experience.
- Experience with offshore brownfield modifications.
- Hands-on experience with QRA and other process-safety studies.
