Litigation Counsel

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States; hybrid schedule with required in-office work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Base salary: $158,000–$198,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Prepare evidence, attend hearings, and arbitrate high-volume consumer disputes in online forums.
• Evaluate pre-arbitration disputes, advise internal teams, negotiate resolutions, and prepare matters for arbitration.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on briefing, discovery, declarations, motions to compel arbitration, and insurance matters.
• Draft responses to regulatory inquiries involving user complaints and disputes.
• Manage discovery responses, depositions, third-party subpoenas, settlement strategies, and case costs.
• Advise Trust & Safety, Customer Experience, Claims, and Operations on consumer escalations and litigation risk.

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a state bar, or ability to obtain Arizona licensure within 90 days of hire.
• At least 3 years of relevant litigation experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience with case assessment, pleading drafting, discovery management, settlement negotiation, trial preparation, and oral argument.
• Strong legal writing, communication, strategic problem-solving, and prioritization skills for high-volume dockets.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external counsel in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in the office three days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
