Counsel, Product Legal (Yield) (Fintech)

Location: Based in San Francisco or New York City, United States

Base salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Serve as lead legal counsel for the Yield product and advise product stakeholders throughout ideation, development, launch, and market expansion.
• Provide legal, regulatory, and strategic guidance on product design, licensing, customer terms, disclosures, partner arrangements, and launch readiness.
• Coordinate with local counsel across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the U.S., the U.K., and the European Union.
• Translate legal and regulatory advice into actionable product requirements, documentation, and launch materials.
• Develop scalable legal frameworks, playbooks, processes, and launch checklists for expansion into new markets.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Licensing, Risk, Marketing, Operations, and regulated partners including banks, broker-dealers, custodians, and investment managers.

Requirements

• JD or equivalent law degree and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of post-qualification legal experience, including experience at a top-tier law firm.
• Experience advising on investment products, wealth management, broker-dealer arrangements, custodial relationships, investment-management structures, or related disclosures and documentation.
• At least 3 years of experience advising on wealth-management products and strong regulatory or product-counseling experience.
• Strategic, solution-oriented approach with strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex cross-jurisdictional legal workstreams from product ideation through launch and expansion.

Nice to have

• In-house legal experience in fintech, financial services, wealth management, asset management, securities, brokerage, or another regulated financial-services environment.
• Experience with securities, investment-adviser, investor-protection, fiduciary, suitability, or equivalent regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience building scalable legal playbooks, product-governance processes, or launch checklists.
• Experience working in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities.
