Mechanical Design Engineer (Automotive Connectors)

What you will do

• Develop high-voltage automotive connector systems from concept and initial design through production.
• Create feasible, robust, innovative, and cost-effective designs using CAD and CATIA.
• Lead product validation, prepare DVP&R and test requests, and coordinate with the test laboratory.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and maintain DFMEA activities to ensure product robustness.
• Initiate engineering changes to improve robustness, profitability, or alignment with customer requirements.
• Provide component and assembly support to internal and external customers and support customer builds at their facilities when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design within the automotive or aerospace industry.
• At least 5 years of experience designing automotive connectors; high-voltage connector experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA, including mechanical design, FEA, drawings, and GD&T.
• Understanding of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 environments, DFA, DFM, PLM workflows, product validation, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, 8D, 5W, and Fishbone analysis.

Nice to have

• High-voltage connector experience.
• Practical experience with USCAR, LV214, GMW3191, or IEC/ISO connector specifications.
• Experience serving as a lead designer or technical lead for connector programs released to production.
