TL;DR
Neurophysiologist (Intraoperative Neuromonitoring): Providing real-time monitoring of patients’ nervous systems during surgery and communicating critical information to surgeons and operating-room staff with an accent on patient care, accurate data collection, and technical troubleshooting. Focus on interpreting waveforms, maintaining IOM equipment, completing monitoring documentation, and managing changing operating-room conditions.

Location: Field-based role in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, United States

What you will do

  • Provide intraoperative neuromonitoring during surgical procedures and monitor patients’ nervous systems.
  • Review patient medical histories and consult surgeons on structures at risk and monitoring modalities.
  • Communicate monitoring information to surgeons and surgical staff throughout each case.
  • Display, label, measure, and calculate waveform data, including latencies, amplitudes, and conduction times.
  • Identify monitoring protocols, troubleshoot technical issues, maintain equipment, and complete required documentation and file uploads.
  • Follow company, medical-device, legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related experience, an advanced degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Current certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) and the ability to maintain CNIM status.
  • Knowledge of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, human anatomy and physiology, or technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and collaboration skills, including communication in English with surgeons and surgical staff.
  • Ability to work in operating rooms, travel regularly, maintain hospital privileges, and meet applicable physical and vaccination requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation capable of carrying medical equipment; ability to transport and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
