Focus on designing scalable product-specific controls, monitoring regulatory developments, and building dashboards and screening systems that strengthen program effectiveness.

Location: New York, United States

Base salary: $119K–$195K annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

  • Serve as the sanctions subject matter expert and second-line escalation point for complex sanctions matches, investigations, and potential block-and-reject reporting.
  • Own global sanctions procedures and provide oversight of sanctions controls implemented by first-line teams.
  • Develop management information and dashboards to measure the health and effectiveness of the sanctions compliance program.
  • Maintain, tune, and optimize sanctions screening technologies, list-management systems, and case-management platforms.
  • Partner with Risk Product teams to design and implement product-specific sanctions controls aligned with global regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor sanctions and export-control developments, deliver training and regulatory updates, and respond to banking-partner and stakeholder inquiries.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant sanctions experience, preferably in fintech, payments, or a large financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of US economic sanctions and industry best practices; knowledge of other global regimes is beneficial.
  • Experience operationalizing sanctions controls with technology teams, including sanctions list management.
  • Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to assess complex commercial transactions and products and provide recommendations to stakeholders across different geographies.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating on a global program.

Nice to have

  • Juris Doctor, relevant master’s degree, or advanced industry certifications such as CGSS or CAMS.
  • Experience assessing and scaling sanctions frameworks and recommending program enhancements.
  • Experience working with regulators or financial institution partners on sanctions matters.
