Director, Risk (Fintech)

Base pay: $171,000–$202,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build and own the risk tolerance framework, including delinquency guardrails, fraud targets, and escalation thresholds.
• Establish second-line governance for credit policy, fraud controls, and risk-bearing product decisions.
• Launch and operate the Risk Committee, including reporting, escalation protocols, and executive communication.
• Lead governance of Fraud Operations and Credit teams while developing the function’s analytical rigor.
• Partner with Product and hirify.globalering to embed risk policy into product logic, application-stage controls, and automation.
• Translate operational risk signals into P&L reporting and build quarterly delinquency and fraud reporting for finance, executives, and the board.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of risk experience, including credit risk, with 3+ years leading teams.
• Experience balancing risk rigor with business growth and managing risk appetite discussions with Sales and Product.
• Direct experience partnering with Product and hirify.globalering to translate risk policy into product decisions and automation.
• Familiarity with BSA/AML, UDAAP, and card issuing compliance.
• Strong executive communication skills, including translating risk signals into business and financial language.
• Experience in fintech, card issuing, or lending is required.

Nice to have

• FRM, CPA, or CFE certification.
