Director of Fraud Strategy (Fintech)

Location: Remote

Salary: $225,000–$250,000 plus equity

What you will do

• Own fraud loss outcomes across new account, first-party, and transaction fraud.
• Lead, develop, and grow three fraud leads across the core fraud domains.
• Define and evolve the fraud controls framework while balancing delivery speed and operational complexity.
• Partner with modeling, engineering, and senior leadership on fraud priorities and resource trade-offs.
• Act as an operational backstop during high-severity fraud incidents.
• Communicate fraud risk, strategy, and performance to executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of people leadership with direct P&L or fraud-loss accountability.
• Deep hands-on expertise across multiple fraud domains, including new account, transaction, or first-party fraud.
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or another money-movement environment.
• Ability to read or write code using SQL, SAS, Python, or an equivalent language.
• Understanding of machine learning models and their integration into fraud decisioning.
• Strong communication, prioritization, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with credit or debit card fraud controls.
• Experience with transactional control frameworks.
• Experience building or scaling fraud functions in high-growth or early-stage environments.
• Familiarity with fraud tooling and rule management platforms.
